A dead battery will only come back to life so many times before it starts to leak, or the heat and pressure messes up other parts of your engine.

Look for any signs of your battery dieing, and make sure you turn off anything that runs on the battery when you leave the car. Leaving any of that on when you leave the car will drain your battery in less then a day.

Lemon Law Think You Bought a Lemon?

Imagine you are driving down the street in your new car when you hear a loud clink-bang-boom and then you car stalls in the middle of the road.  If you are like most people, you get angry and start looking for someone to blame for your misfortune.  Perhaps the dealership or private owner you just bought that new car from sold you a lemon?

If you bought a new car, chances are you went to a dealership like Boston Nissan, and your warranty should take care of the issue and that’s the end of the story.  Some dealerships might even try to make-up for your bad luck by giving you perks; Ford incentives might include a complimentary oil change or car wash.  However, if you find yourself spending 30 days in the first 12,000 miles of ownership with your mechanic, you might want to start researching your state’s lemon law.

If you purchased a used car, hope that your vehicle was still under manufacturer’s warranty, your purchased an extended warranty, or it was a certified used car.  Without those lines of protection, the only chance you can reclaim your losses are if your used vehicle had been in a flood, stolen, previously salvaged, a police or taxi car, or the odometer had been rolled back.  Some states have laws that protect the buyer in the case that the seller did not disclose known mechanical problems, but read your state’s laws carefully before hiring an attorney. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act was enacted in 1975 to protect consumers for items costing more than $25.  It also prohibits manufacturers from creating weak or unfair warranties on their products.  Often the attorney fees are covered under the Act, but research your state’s lemon laws before hiring an attorney.  If your state says that your car is sweet, not sour, then you’ll be glad you waited.  Lemon laws are in place to protect the consumer, but only after it has been determined your vehicle is a lemon by your state.
